Corvus moves downtown!

Now Open!

We are finally and officially moved in and settled in to our new digs in downtown Sacramento. We are at The Offices @RetroLodge which is a former Travel Lodge turned office complex. This awesome new space is brought to you by the folks at Heller Pacific who are also responsible for the fantastic MARRS Building in Midtown Sacramento. We are humming along nicely in the new space after much touch up painting and cable installation. And, although we still operate our offices in Citrus Heights (shout out to the ‘Heights!), our new home has really become downtown. It is our hope and the hope of the newly developing downtown creative community, that midtown will extend uptown a bit and really put Sacramento on the map in the coming months and years. We have decided to throw our hands in the mix by partnering with The Sacramento Downtown Partnership to really shake things up and get it done!

If you are in the area, please feel free to stop by and say hi! We are at 1029 “H” Street in downtown…right on the corner of 11th and H Streets in Suite 201 of “The Astro” building (the other building is “The Elroy”…don’t get it? How about now?). If you really like what you see, contact our buddy Andy Ekstrom to schedule a tour and consider becoming our neighbor! This area is rapidly expanding and becoming one of our best investments and decisions to date.

New Site and New Domain

web

New and improved website is now moved to the snazzy new corv.us domain. We are still working on getting it to load much faster, but are having the whole “having lots of pictures” versus a quick load debate. Trying hard to make something that works for both worlds.

But, hey, how about that new domain name huh? Pretty sweet wordplay with the domain .us right? It came to us after some serious brainstorming…and a little bit of confusion over our last domain corvustudios.com and the shared “s”. Too many people tried to add a second “s” as in “corvus studios” leading to corvusstudios and missing our site altogether. We thought we were being super cool with that shared “s”, but try spelling that over the phone…now try it over a bad Bluetooth connection! We liked the simplicity of the word corvus, and set out to buy the domain. Turns out it was taken. Who knew! We found the owner, sent an email, and after some back and fourth and an Amazon gift (bribe) card later; voila, new owners were established. The former owner had it parked and wasn’t using it. He was nice enough to allow us to assume the domain since he admired our work and had no real use for it. Who says you can’t negotiate a web domain like civilized people these days? Not Corvus!
